Tips and Tricks

REMOVING BLACKETT & DYES

It seem every time you blacken your horses hooves they manage to wipe their hoof on to a white sox. Just spray the mark with HAIR SPRAY and it will wipe off. This will also work if you are dying you horses mane and tail.

KEEPING WHITE SOX WHITE

After washing your horses white legs cover while wet with Baby Powder this will stop the dust settling and in the morning the powder will just fall off.

HOW TO GET A BRIGHTER DEEP COLOUR IN YOUR HORSES COATS

Give you horses/Ponies 1 egg 4 times a week, great for Palominos this will NOT bring out black hairs. You can even feed the shell. Beatroot & Pumkin as much as you wish, fresh or from the can, this is an old method canary breeders use to use to get Red & Orange birds.

WHITEN MANES & TAILS

White cooking vinegar will help whiten manes & tails (and help keep flys away) as well as Magic silver white & Blueo found in the supermarket (washing powder section). Soak manes & tails, then rince off, then follow up with a show sheen.

SHINNY COATS FOR SHOW

Add 1 cap of Kerosene to 5 lts of water and sponge you horse down, let him dry and the oil in the kero will make the coat shine. DO NOT  use more it will not make him shine any more (I have tried).

PULLING MAINS & TAILS

If you have a horse that objects to having his mane pulled, then rub a little oil of cloves into the hair line as it numbs it a little. Use rubber gloves (or you fingers will go numb)  it take about 5 minutes of rubbing before it works.
